Where We Come From: Our Ancestry DNA Tests Results

Where do you think you come from? After years of discussion, Adam and I sat down and ordered the Ancestry DNA tests to find out exactly where we come from. We made a list of what we thought we were in the meantime to see if our results would connect with the dots in our DNA.

We have always been interested in genealogy and tracing our family’s roots. We have scoured websites looking for marriage certificate, death certificates, Durant rolls, censuses, trying to find the missing clues. We have heard stories passed down from one person to another about where our family comes from. We have spent countless hours building our family tree and digging for the next clue to our past.  Continue reading

Our Travel Living Room Revamp!

Things are getting a little bit cramped around here.

This is what our night looks like: I’m laying down on the couch, feet on Adam, and dogs laying on top of me. I’m getting pushed off of the couch from the dogs and they have all begun to migrate towards Adam’s domain of the couch. We are running out of room!

That was it. We needed another sofa (something we have been discussing since we got this sofa).

And because Christmas Eve is a whole bunch of this:

Oh hey Adam….all the way over there

One Hell of a Night with Chris Brown

We might be a litttleeee behind in the blog world. Blame it on college! Time to play catch  up! Oh and please forgive me for my amazing quality photography at this concert! I only took my phone.

Right before our trip to St. Martin and right after we went waterfall rappelling (I changed our July date TO waterfall rappelling) I found out Chris Brown would be coming to my area. Chris Brown? I love his music. While he may do some questionable things (as does many other celebrities), his music could make nearly anyone wanna get up and boogy. I just had to see him live!

So, after our trip to St. Martin, we went to Camden, New Jersey to see Chris Brown in the flesh. This was Adam’s first concert ever. The featuring artists were Fetty Wap, Omarion, Kid Ink, and Teyana Taylor.

Our Wedding Album

With joyful hearts we request your presence in….our walk down memory lane! Grab a seat and enjoy the show!

Adam and I got married on Friday, August 10, 2012, a little over four years after we started dating. We got married on Mackinac Island, a tiny 8 mile island in the middle of the Great Lakes. Our wedding ceremony and wedding reception took place at the Island House Hotel.

It was always my dream to get married on Mackinac Island because it was such an important place in my family and in my life, as well. It is gorgeous, romantic, and everything you could want for a destination wedding. It also helped that I met my future husband on Mackinac Island, as well (so clearly it wasn’t too hard to convince him).

How We Met…

As we are embarking on our 7th year together, I thought it was only appropriate to make a blog post about how Adam and I met.
Before you read the next part, let me emphasize that I am VERY good at making first impressions and you will see why.
Seven years ago, when I was living on Mackinac Island, I had quite a few friends from the previous summer. One of those friends is John. We were friends from the summer before and spoke throughout the winter. I had been trying to track down John all day, but I could not find him. A friend had borrowed my flip flops, stayed at his place, left them there, and did not return them. I was heading to his place to pick them up, but he was not home. As I was walking down the street I came across one of our friends on the porch who told me that John is at the ferry dock picking up some new employees. I started walking down Main Street towards the dock when I came across John with his two friends from Harrison who would be living on Mackinac Island for the summer and working at the Mighty Mac. They were pushing all of their belongings down the street on a big wagon to the employee housing. John decided it would be a good time to introduce his friends to me. As he was finished saying their names, I look at them like okay whatever?, said nothing, and then continue talking to John. One of the people I was introduced to was Adam. This was his first day being on the island and moving onto the island. I was one of the first people he met on the island and clearly I made quite an impression…
