Things are getting a little bit cramped around here.
This is what our night looks like: I’m laying down on the couch, feet on Adam, and dogs laying on top of me. I’m getting pushed off of the couch from the dogs and they have all begun to migrate towards Adam’s domain of the couch. We are running out of room!
That was it. We needed another sofa (something we have been discussing since we got this sofa).
And because Christmas Eve is a whole bunch of this:
Oh hey Adam….all the way over there
Is that actually possible? It is something that we struggle with all of the time. We are the kind of people that if we don’t like the way something is, we want to fix it. Well, you kinda can’t just start tearing down walls and rearranging things. I mean…I suppose we could, but I’m pretty sure that the landlords and the management company wouldn’t appreciate it too much. I think we are the kind of couple that would prefer a fixer-upper to always have something to better and keep us busy. We like to have things “our way” with our own taste. There are so many things about this place that we would love to fix, but we cannot.
I was told that making a place feel like home is adding personal touches, pictures, decor, etc. We have done that to some extent. Though we are still working on adding more pictures and decor it always feels like in the back of our minds we keep remembering that “this is temporary”. We have some handmade shelves up and hung some pictures up, but I don’t think we have even begun to go below the surface of stuff we wanted and still want to get done.
The bedroom basically has not been touched since we moved. The same can be said for the guest room/dog room/office. There has been a lot of stuff going on in our apartment that has made us regret moving here. We love the facility as a whole. We love the pool, the fitness center (that we have never used yet), the dog walk area, the spacious apartments, and the layout of the apartment. We cannot, however handle the elephants upstairs. No matter what time of day they are always there. STOMPING. VERY. LOUDLY. There’s no such thing as walking lightly to them at all. All you can hear is the heavy footed neighbors. We always feel on edge and like we can never actually relax because there is always banging. They go to bed at 12-1am and wake up at around 7-8am. They stomp in their bedroom (our bedroom is under theirs) very early and it ends up waking us up several times in the morning.
Blog readers, we are slackers. There’s no way around it. We have done pretty much nothing that is worth discussing. This has been a pretty lazy relaxing week for us. Our determination to get our house into tiptop “home-y” shape has been stalled. We just want to do nothing, but relax and enjoy our new found freedom.
Things we did to:
- Finished those 2 additional wall shelves
- Mounted the flat screen
- Doggy bow-tie crafts
- Decor for the shelves
- Hanging pictures
We are pretty proud of the effort and research we took to hanging out pictures. In our last place our pictures were hung shamefully. You would get a neck ache from how much you had to turn your head up and down to see them. I’m pretty sure we don’t have any pictures of it and for a good reason. They were just too fabulous to share with the world.
Let’s get visual: We had 4 pictures hung up on the wall and each were not even close the being the same height. Some were 6in to 12in off from one another vertically.
Like I said: fabulous.
My bestie Pinterest came to my side again to help a sista out.
Here are a few of my favorites:
It’s Facebook, Blog, and everything else official. We are officially moved out and moved in!
The ever reliable weather man called for rain on Saturday. As everyone already knows, weather men are always right….50% of the time. We were expecting rain, showers, the whole sha-bang. Saturday rolls around here we are. The sun was shining and it was in the mid-50’s. Tank top weather has officially begun! On this day the weather man was my best friend, which doesn’t happen too often.
Adam and I hopped in the car and got the keys at 10:15am. I was exhausted.
Say it with me ex-haus-ted.
I had such a brilliant idea It’s Friday night. We are moving tomorrow morning. We have all of these recorded shows on the TIVO. We only have ONE night to watch Campus PD, Lost, Ghost Adventures, and the list goes on. We recorded them. Someone has to take one for the team and watch them so that they weren’t recorded for nothing. I’ll do it. I’ll take one for the team. So here I am at 3-4am watching shows to catch up, so that they do not go to waste.
And here I am exhausted on moving day because of my “brilliant” idea. I probably could have managed my time better…but that’s besides the point.
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS A HECK OF A LOT OF PICTURES AND NOT ENOUGH WORDS.
I’ve never been good at keeping secrets of my own. I’m the kind of person that loves to spill the beans, can’t contain myself even if I try, and who is so overcome with excitement that I just have to tell SOMEONE, anyone.
This time was very similar, but I managed to keep it a secret from those who the surprise was meant for. I’ve held this secret in for 6 long months. Imagine, SIX.LONG.MONTHS. Finally, the day has come where I get to let you all in on my secret.
Yes you are seeing three and no, he we did not steal him. He’s allllllll mine.
